Last Sunday, we went to the POPS Open 2016 at Park Orchards Primary School.
I was going to write a post about how we got to meet Mats Valk, or how there was a documentary crew there, or about the PBs my kids got. But then this happened:
Another view might be better:
That’s right, a 3×3 World Record was broken. It was so exciting to be there when it happened.
Feliks and Mats were on the same table competing in the finals, Nat was on the next table. I must admit that I was keen to watch Nat compete, he was one of the fasted 8 people in the competition, a group that included Feliks Zemdegs, Mats Valk, and Jayden McNeill.
As you can see in the first video, he was in the middle of inspection time when the room erupted with the news of a new World Record! From the look on Feliks’ face, he couldn’t believe it either.
The new record made for a very, very exciting competition.
I’ll do a post with more pics & info about the competition in a few days.
Congratulations to Feliks Zemdegs on his new World Record. He told us that it was 5 years since he last held the record for a single solve of the Rubiks Cube!
