Preparing for a competition

Who knew that getting ready for a cubing competition would involve as much planning and preparation as a sports competition? I certainly didn’t.

My kids have a competition today, it’s my younger son’s first ever competition. Their dad is taking them, so yesterday afternoon was a flurry of activity as they were getting everything ready.

The above photo shows the things my 12 year old is taking. He is taking part in 2 events – 3×3 and 2×2. The tripod is to hold his phone so that he can film his solves. Not pictured is his phone charger so he can make sure there is enough charge for the day.

On the other hand, the photo above is what Nat will be taking to the competition! He is in just about every event, so he has many different cubes, along with a tripod and small camera so he can film his solves. He also had chargers with him so everything can be charged and ready for the day.

Both boys have backpacks to carry everything, I usually add a drink bottle and snacks for the day.

The flurry of preparation yesterday reminded me so much of when Nat was getting ready for a football match. Making sure everything was ready and nothing was left behind.
